Information
Şanlıurfa is settled on a plain under big open skies, about eighty kilometres east of the Euphrate River. The climate is extremely hot and dry in summers; cool and moist in winters. A large part of the population is Kurdish. There is also a sizeable Arab minority. This city is known as the ‘city of mosaics’. More than hundred mosaics were explored up to present. The important portion of these mosaics are exhibited in the Şanlıurfa Ayasophia and İstanbul Ayasophia museums.
