According to the myth, King Midas has everything but a child. The king is so miserable that he prays to God for a child day and night. At last, the king has a beautiful daughter. Suna, daughter of the king, catches a disease when she is a young woman. Boils come out of the beautiful girl`s body. No medical man is able to heal these dilute boils. Beautiful Suna, despaired by these non-healing wounds, takes the road. She travelle over the hills and mountains. King Midas sends his men to take care of his daughter. The beautiful girl arrives at Afyon, a part of the King`s territory. It is summertime, and Suna is thirsty. She looks for some water to drink. The girl, parched with thirst, runs to the water without minding the swamp. She bows down and drinks the water deep. Than she feels a nice itch and a calm feeling where the water reaches. The beautiful girl throws herself into the water. Than she comes out and goes into a deep sleep because she has not slept for days. When she wakes up, she realizes that she has no pain and the boils are drying. She stays by the water for a week. Her boils and wounds are healed completely in one week. Beautiful Suna, as beautiful as she used to be thanks to the water, goes into ecstasy. King`s men who are watching her, come by her side when they notice that she is healed. Suna tells all that has happened to her. Than they come back to the palace. King Midas, mourning day and night for his daughter, gets vary happy to see his daughter healed. She asks to her daughter "Which medicine man healed you? Tell me, and I will assign him the chief medicine man". And Suna answers "The hot water healed me, not a medicine man". So he orders "Build there a bath, so people passing by shall be healed". So, it is considered that these thermal springs are being used since the Phrygians.
